Focus America's Programs

Focus America offers several programs that run every year. These programs started out as student-run projects that evolved into larger community service programs adopted by Focus America to continue throughout the year. All of our programs help underserved communities who require the basic necessities such as food and clothing while breaking the barriers of diversity and providing role models for the young.

Project Holiday Cheer (2002-2005): Focus America sponsors children from various agencies throughout the country. Volunteers collect bulk items which are shipped to communities living beneath the poverty line as well as distributing items to children living in foster care through social service agencies. All children are working in the system with various government or non-profit agencies. Click here for more information.

Project Pencils (2002-2005): Focus America collects and distributes school supplies for children who are living in poor communities as well as children living in foster care situations. Distribution is based upon supplies donated and the needs of applicants. Click here for more information.

Project Winter Warmth (2002-2005): Volunteers collect coats, hats, mittens, and blankets to donate to communities living in poverty that are located in remote areas such as Appalachia before the beginning of winter.

Project Work (2005): In 2005, we launched a new program to work one-on-one with communities that are living beneath the poverty level but have limited access to resources. We help to introduce work to these communities through mail-order crafts in the hopes of bringing income to these hard hit regions.
