Having planned on creating a non-profit community support system in the future, the article gave a jump start to her plans based upon the realization that people live in third world conditions in the richest nation in the world.   "Helping people is the right thing to do," Zimmerman says. "We cannot turn our back on these communities that need basic amenities such as food, water, clothing, and hope. We help so many other countries that have the resources to attract the media when we have thousands of communities in our own country who are crying for help. It's easier to fall into a cycle of poverty than to climb out." Zimmerman has her Master's in Corporate and Organizational Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson Univeristy and her Bachelor's in Anthropology and Writing from Drew University. Besides running Focus America as a volunteer, she teaches marketing, management, and communication courses at local colleges. She is the author of Imaging Sales 101 as well as numerous articles published in the technology industry. She is on the Board of Directors for Chain Reaction for a Cure and Board of Corporate Advisors for Fairleigh Dickinson University.
