July 7, 2003-CONVENT STATION, NJ: Focus America, a NJ Non-Profit Corporation, announced that they have begun collecting school supplies such as backpacks, pens and pencils, dictionaries, notebooks, erasers, and calculators for distribution in August to underserved and poor communities in Northern New Jersey. Focus America provides high school and college students with business experience through the management of social service and charity projects that address the needs of poverty-stricken and destitute communities around the country. Their focus is on addressing basic needs (shelter, food, and clothing) then introducing educational programs to help the communities achieve self-sufficiency. Their ultimate goal is to help eliminate poverty in these underdeveloped communities.
