Brings “Project Pencils”
to Morristown
July 7, 2003-CONVENT STATION, NJ:
Focus America, a NJ Non-Profit Corporation, announced that they have begun
collecting school supplies such as backpacks,
pens and pencils, dictionaries, notebooks, erasers, and calculators for
distribution in August to underserved and poor communities in Northern
New Jersey. Donations may be dropped off at the Presbyterian Church of
Morristown’s Parish House on South Street in Morristown, NJ until
July 31st.
Collected
items will be distributed to children in need in Morris, Essex, and Passaic
County, NJ before the beginning of the 2003-2004 school year.
Additional packages will be shipped to Focus America’s out-of-state
adopted communities in Illinois. Focus
America provides high school and college students with business experience
through the management of social
service and charity projects that address
the needs of poverty-stricken and destitute communities around the country.
Their focus is on addressing basic needs (shelter, food, and clothing)
then introducing educational programs to help the communities achieve
self-sufficiency. Their ultimate goal is to help eliminate poverty in these
underdeveloped
communities. For
