FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Focus America
Announces 3rd Annual Christmas Gift Drive November 14,
2004--Focus America (Convent Station, NJ) announces their third
annual gift donation drive for over 2500 children in need, the majority
residing in northern New Jersey as well as Pembroke Township, Illinois. Focus America is
coordinating the gift distribution by working with several social service
agencies such as Turning Point in Irvington, Hope House
in Dover, FACT NJ in Union, Neighborhood House and Wind of the Spirit
in Morristown, and Coordinated Family Care in Edison. For the 2004 season,
the greatest need is for winter clothing (hats, gloves, scarves), books,
and general toys (board games, dolls, trucks,
coloring books, etc.). Interested donors should contact Focus America
at 862-812-0548 for local drop points. The recent recipient
of the Daily Points of Light Award, Focus America began collecting gifts
for the children of Pembroke, IL during the 2002
holiday season. “We selected the Pembroke communities as our first
project based on an article from the New York Times back in September
2002,” Shelly Zimmerman, President and Founder of Focus America,
said. “The project started out as an internship for one of my
college students who found sponsors for 75 children in Pembroke. However,
that
little internship has snowballed to the point that we are sponsoring
over 2500 children from across the country during our third holiday
season.” Focus America runs
several programs throughout the year including Christmas programs for families
in need, Back to School supplies for the poor,
and their new Family First adoption program for a select number of
qualified families.
